PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley women's tennis team
claimed the day's first four points to secure the win and cruised to a final
6-1 victory versus Green Bay (1-11) Saturday evening at the Clubs at River City
North.
After evening their season record, the Braves (5-5)
will close out a season-long, 5-match home stand Sunday by hosting IPFW in a 2
p.m. match at the Clubs at River City.
The duo of Carly
Miles and Kennedy Scott set the
tone of the day by rolling to an 8-2 win at No. 2 singles. Meredith
McDonagh and Cassia Wojtalik quickly
followed with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles to secure the day's first point.
The Braves then put the match away by earning victories
in the first three singles matches to finish.
Adele Henke breezed to a 6-1,
6-1 win at No. 1 singles, followed by Jessie
Bertino's 6-1, 6-0 rout at No. 6 singles.
Miles secured the team victory with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4
singles. Scott gave Bradley its fifth point
with another straight-sets victory – 6-4, 6-1 – at No. 5 singles and Sarah Rodefeld completed the day with
an emotional victory at No. 2 singles by rallying for a 5-7, 6-3, 11-9 triumph.
IPFW (9-7) will take a 3-match winning streak into a
Sunday morning (10 o'clock) match versus Green Bay at the Clubs at River City,
before taking on the Braves in its second match of the day.
