Box Score TALLAHASEE, Fla. – Bradley opened Friday night's game at 13th-ranked Florida State with back-to-back hits, but the Braves didn't get another hit off Seminoles starter Meghan King in a 14-0 loss Friday to wrap up the first day of competition at the Unconquered Invitational.
Junior Kelly Kapp (Freeburg, Ill./Gibault Catholic) opened the game with a bunt single to extend her hit streak to 10 games and senior Kendall Duffy (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) followed with a single of her own for Bradley in the top of the first. The Braves loaded the bases on a Rachel Huggins (Mt. Zion, Ill./Mt. Zion) walk, but a groundout ended the threat.
A two-run double by Sydney Broderick and a bases loaded double off the bat of Carsyn Gordon which drove in three runs highlighted a seven-run bottom of the first for Florida State. The Seminoles tacked on three more runs in the second to push the lead to 10-0 and Jasmine Palmer highlighted a four-run third with a pinch hit two-run homer as Florida State led 14-0 after three innings.
King retired 11 consecutive batters she faced after giving up the Huggins walk in the first and struck out four in the victory to improve to 4-1 on the season for Florida State with the two-hit shutout.
Bradley continues play at the Unconquered Invitational Saturday with an 11 a.m. (CST) matchup against Hofstra.
