On The Court

•   A three-year starter at point guard, Ruffin has logged more than 3,000 career minutes while helping the Braves to consecutive 22-win seasons, a first at Bradley since 1959 (25-4) and 1960 (27-2).

•   Also has led the Braves to Sweet 16 appearances in the 2006 NCAA Tournament and 2007 MasterCard NIT, the first time Bradley has earned postseason victories in consecutive seasons since 1994 (2-1 NIT) and 1995 (1-1 NIT).

•   Ruffin has been the Missouri Valley Conference active leader in career assists since the start of the 2006-07 season and he will enter the 2007-08 campaign as the nation’s active career leader with his 475 assists.

•   Ruffin has led the Braves to a 7-4 record versus BCS-member teams while averaging 9.8 points and 5.3 assists in those 11 games.

•   Joins teammate Jeremy Crouch as the top two returning scorers (13.8 ppg) in The Valley for the 2007-08 season, and also tops the league’s returning players with 154 career steals.

•   Boasts a 2.01 career assists-to-turnover ratio while playing 3,017 minutes as the primary ball-handler the last three seasons.

•   Owns three career points-assists double-doubles.

•   Ruffin’s season 3-point field goal percentage has improved by at least 20 points each of the last two seasons.

Off The Court

•   Ruffin was ruled a non-qualifier out of high school and was unable to compete as a true freshman during the 2003-04 season.  After earning a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director’s Honor Roll with a minimum 3.0 GPA in three of his last four semesters, however, Ruffin regained his final year of eligibility by graduating in May with his bachelor’s degree in social work.

•   Ruffin’s father, Dan Sr., played at Bradley from 1976-79 and took over as the boys basketball head coach at Peoria High School in 2004.  The Ruffins are one of four father-son combinations to have played basketball at Bradley.  Including Bradley’s 2006 postseason run with the younger Ruffin at the point, at least one-half of all four father-son combinations have played in the NCAA Tournament.

•   Ruffin is the half-brother of former Indiana All-American A.J. Guyton.

According To Ruffin

Why he wears #20 for the Braves:

“I was lucky enough to receive the same number every year I played biddy basketball, so it stuck with me ever since.”

On his relationship with half-brother and former Indiana All-American A.J. Guyton:

“A.J. is a great role model in my life.  He opened up a pathway for my basketball career.”

On his academic success at Bradley:

“I am grateful that Bradley University took a chance on me out of high school.  It gave me the opportunity to prove myself.”

Most people don’t know this, but:

“I can dunk.”

On playing basketball in his hometown:

“I love playing in front of my hometown.  I am grateful that I had the opportunity to represent Peoria.”

The number of songs on his MP3 player:

“I don’t have one.”

The most interesting class I have taken at Bradley:

“FCS 440 Family Marriages.”
