Kelly Amundrud Named Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week

PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior women's golfer Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley women's golf team to a sixth-place finish at the season-opening Redbird Invitational.

Amundrud opened the 2010-11 season with the ninth top-10 finish of her career, tying for eighth at the Redbird Invitational in Normal, Ill., over the weekend.  She improved her score in each of the three rounds, culminating with a four-over par 75 in the final round as she helped Bradley to a sixth-place finish.  Amundrud turned in rounds of 78, 77 and 75 to finish at 230 and moved into fifth place at BU in career rounds in the 70's (45).  She is currently tied for sixth in program history with her nine career top-10 finishes.  An accounting major, Amundrud owns a 3.89 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Amundrud and the Braves return to action Sept. 26 & 27 at the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis.
