PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior women's golfer Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after earning medalist honors at last week's Payne Stewart Memorial.
Amundrud, who was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week after her performance, opened the tournament with a one-under par 71 at the par-72 Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield, Mo., and finished the first day of play at 145 after a second-round 74. She capped the tournament with a final-round 76 to win the individual title by two shots and claim her second consecutive medalist honor with a 54-hole score of 221. An accounting major, Amundrud owns a 3.90 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
