PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior guard Lauren Niemiera (Orland Park, Ill./Marist) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley to a 62-55 road win at Western Illinois last week.
Niemiera had six points and matched a season-high with six rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench against the Westerwinds. She also had one assist and one block as she helped the Braves to their third consecutive victory and third straight road win. A double major in spanish and sports communication, Niemiera owns a 3.57 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Niemiera and the Braves return to action Saturday, when they host Northern Illinois at 7:05 p.m. at Renaissance Coliseum in the final non-conference home game of the year.
