PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior MacKenzie Westcott (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley to a 57-48 home win against Northern Illinois Saturday.
Westcott turned in her first double-double of the year and second of her career with 11 points and a career-best 11 rebounds in the win against the Huskies to help the Braves extend their win streak to four games. She added one assist, one block and two steals in 33 minutes of play and the double-double came exactly two years to the day of her first career double-double (12-18-08 against SIU Edwardsville). An actuarial science major, Westcott owns a 3.67 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Westcott and the Braves (7-4 overall) return to action Thursday, Dec. 30 when they open Missouri Valley Conference play with a 7:05 p.m. game at I-74 rival Illinois State.
