PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior outfielder Brittany Fairbairn (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East/Kankakee C.C.) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after hitting .417 in last week's three-game series against Missouri State.
Fairbairn went 5-for-12 (.417) with a stolen base in three games against the Lady Bears, opening the series with a pair of 2-for-4 efforts before a 1-for-4 day at the plate in the final game to push her team-leading hit total to 43. Fairbairn enters the final three weeks of the regular season needing five more hits to post the highest season hit total for a Brave since Laura Harms finished the 2004 season with 73 hits. An elementary education major, Fairbairn owns a 4.00 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Fairbairn and the Braves return to action Wednesday afternoon, hosting Northern Iowa in a 4 p.m. game at Laura Bradley Park.
