PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Coby Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after finishing sixth at last week's State Farm Missouri Valley Conference men's golf championship.

Thompson, who earned all-conference honors following his sixth-place showing, posted the best finish for a Bradley men's golfer at the MVC Men's Championship since Josh Brown tied for fifth at the 2005 event.  Thompson carded rounds of 76, 72 and 78 to finish sixth at 226, six shots out of first place.  A chemistry major, Thompson owns a 4.00 cumulative grade point average. 
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
