PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore middle blocker Amy Angelos (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after earning all-tournament honors at last week's Akron Invitational.

Angelos helped the Braves to a 2-1 record and second-place finish at the Akron Invitational, averaging 2.60 kills, 0.90 aces and 0.80 blocks per set.  She entered the weekend with four career aces, but served up nine in the three matches, including a career-best five aces against St. Francis (Pa.).  Angelos also had 11 kills and three blocks to help highlight the victory against the Red Flash.  She had nine kills and attacked at a .500 clip in a sweep of Canisius and finished with six kills, three blocks and two aces against Akron.  A family and consumer science major with a concentration in hospitality leadership, Angelos owns a 3.16 cumulative grade point average.

Angelos and the Braves return to action Friday, opening play at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, S.C., with an 11 a.m. (CDT) match against Iona.  Bradley faces tournament-host Coastal Carolina Friday at 5 p.m. (CDT) and Gardner-Webb Saturday at 10 a.m. (CDT).
