PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore outside hitter Alise Tupuritis (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley volleyball team to a 1-1 record last week.
Tupuritis averaged 3.25 kills and 1.75 digs per set during the Braves opening weekend of Missouri Valley Conference play. She had eight kills, four digs and two assists in the Valley opener against Evansville, before highlighting BU's comeback victory against Southern Illinois with a career-best 18 kills. Tupuritis also had 10 digs and one ace for her second double-double of the year in the five-set win against the Salukis. A health science major, Tupuritis owns a 3.61 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Tupuritis and the Braves return to action Friday, facing Indiana State at 6 p.m. (CDT) in Terre Haute, Ind.
