Heidi Wegmueller, who has worked for The Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) of America for the previous eight years, begins her first year at Bradley as Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs Jan. 3, 2012.

In her role at Bradley, Wegmueller works on corporate sales, branding, marketing and promotions and revenue generation, while serving on the athletic department's executive staff.  For the previous four years, Wegmueller served as Senior Account Executive for The PGA of America, managing the organization's premier, long-term corporate partnerships, including American Express, Mercedes-Benz, The Royal Bank of Canada, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Rolex, OMEGA, National Car Rental, Atlas Van Lines, Hertz, Chalone Vinyard, United Rentals and Brown-Forman's Bonterra Vineyards.

"Heidi Wegmueller brings significant professional experience with some of the best brands in the world to Bradley," said Cross.  "Her appreciation and understanding of public relations, branding, marketing and corporate sales at one of the most image-conscious organizations in sports is a tremendous asset to Bradley Athletics.  Her diligence, communication, attention to detail and positive attitude will be well received in the Bradley and Peoria communities."

Managing high-profile, multi-million dollar accounts, Wegmueller maintained relationships with The PGA partners' senior executives and their respective agencies to foster partnership development, to deliver on commitments and help ensure renewal.  She also developed tailored marketing plans designed to benefit both parties, while activating promotional programs and managing budgets designed to support a community of 27,000 PGA Professionals and elevating the fan experience at some of professional golf's premier events, including the Ryder Cup, PGA Championship, Senior PGA Championship and the PGA Grand Slam of Golf.

"It is a true honor to work for such a prestigious institution as Bradley University," said Wegmueller.  "I am excited about the opportunity to combine my experiences in the professional sports realm with my passion for collegiate athletics.  I am looking forward to leading and participating in the revenue-generating and external functions of Bradley's long-standing and profound athletic traditions."

During her first four years at The PGA of America from 2003-07, Wegmueller was a Public Relations Coordinator, planning and organizing the public and media relations efforts for The PGA's high-profile public relations campaigns, initiatives and events.  Among those:  Play Golf America, The PGA's 90th Anniversary, PGA Professional Hall of Fame, PGA Village's 10th Anniversary, The PGA of America's 40th Anniversary in Palm Beach County, Fla., PGA Merchandise Show, Play Golf America Days and grand openings.  She also managed the complete public and media relations efforts for prestigious golf events, including junior, amateur and professional Championships and was responsible for obtaining quick quotes from high-profile players.

Wegmueller earned her bachelor's degree in sports management and communications from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) in 2003 and received her master's degree in international mass communication from Lynn University in 2006.  While studying at Michigan, Wegmueller also worked as a tennis teaching professional at Huron Valley Tennis Club (1999-2000) and U-Move at the University of Michigan (2000-02).  She began her affiliation with the golf community in 2002 while serving as an intern for the Golf Association of Michigan and followed with a 2003 internship with the United States Golf Association, serving as the tournament director for the 2003 Special Olympics Golf National Invitational Tournament.
