CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Bradley collected nine hits in an exhibition game against the Netherlands National Team, but the Braves surrendered 13 hits in a 7-1 loss Saturday afternoon.

After falling behind 4-0, Bradley scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Freshman Alyson Clemente (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) drew a leadoff walk and later scored on a two-out single by sophomore Alex Chandler (Needles, Calif./Needles) for BU's only score.  The Braves, who left a total of 10 runners on base in the game, left the bases loaded for the second straight inning and did not advance a runner past second in the final three frames.

Areke Spel helped get the Netherlands going early on, driving in a run in the first and stealing home to help highlight a two-run third to help her squad to a 4-0 advantage.  She later homered during a three-run fifth, accounting for four of her team's seven runs.

Sophomore Bailiegh Basham (Matton, Ill./Mattoon/Lake Land C.C.) helped highlight Bradley's offensive efforts, going 3-for-4 at the plate, while Chandler and sophomore Mariah Cole (Springfield, Ill,/Chatham Glenwood) both had two hits in the loss.

Senior Lindsay Hufeld (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) started the game in the circle for Bradley and gave up seven hits and four runs (three earned) in four innings of work.

Bradley continues play at the Under Armour Showcase in Clearwater, Fla., Sunday with an 8 a.m. (CDT) game against Villanova.
