PEORIA, Ill. -- Freshman Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) turned in the lowest round of the day with a two-over 74 to help the Bradley women's golf team shoot 314 and climb into a tie for fourth in the final team standings at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational Saturday.
Hedemann's final round 74 was the lowest individual round of the day and helped the Braves move from sixth into a tie with Eastern Illinois for fourth in the final team standings at 963. Northern Iowa claimed the team title with a three-round score of 908, finishing 15 shots ahead of second-place Southern Illinois (923). Indiana State was third overall at 946. UNI's Brittany Atterbury claimed medalist honors by five shots with a 54-hole score at 220 at the par-72 WeaverRidge Golf Club.
Hedemann was Bradley's top finisher, tying for eighth at 235 following her third-round 74 to edge fellow freshman Christie Lin (Calgary, Alberta/Sir John G Diefenbaker) by one shot. Lin carded a 77 Saturday and was 11th overall at 236. Sophomore Cassandra Marschall (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield/Wisconsin-Green Bay) posted her first top-20 finish of the year, closing play in 17th (239) after a final round 79.
Senior Erin Gorman (Rockford, Ill./Boylan) rounded out the team scoring for the Braves with an 84 and tied for 43rd (254). Bradley played both the second and third rounds with four players after senior Kelly Amundrud (Calgary, Alberta/Strathcona Tweedsmuir) withdrew due to injury.
Western Illinois finished 10 shots behind Bradley and Eastern Illinois in sixth (973), while Loyola-Chicago was seventh (980). Drake was three shots back in eighth (983) with Chicago State (9th - 996) and Nebraska-Omaha (10th - 1025) rounding out the field.
Bradley returns to action April 14 & 15 at the Indiana Invitational in Bloomington, Ind., in the team's final tournament before the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship later this month.
