PEORIA, Ill. – With classes for the 2012 Fall semester  underway, Bradley has added three non-scholarship players, all guards, to its roster for the 2012-13 men’s basketball season.

The addition of Mason Alwan (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods H.S.), Jimmy Gavin (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect H.S.) and Darrion Harris (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) gives the Braves a 16-man roster this season, though sophomore guards Anthony Fields and Omari Grier will be unable to play as they satisfy NCAA transfer rules.

Alwan comes to Bradley from Lincoln Land Community College, where he was a two-time all-conference and all-region selection.  As a sophomore in 2011-12,the 6-foot-3 shooting guard averaged a team-best 13.3 points per game while draining 1.4 3-point field goals per game, to earn first-team All-Region 24 accolades.

A homegrown product from Peoria Richwoods High School, Alwan also was a second-team all-conference and all-area selection during his senior season in 2009-10, when he helped the Knights to a runner-up finish in the IHSA 3A state tournament at Carver Arena.

A 6-foot-2 guard, Gavin’s high school playing career was interrupted by his battle with Crohn’s Disease, which prevented him from playing his junior and senior years.  After first entering college at Mississippi State in 2010, Gavin begins his Bradley career as a sophomore with three years to complete his final three years of eligibility.

Harris graduated in May from Whitfield School in St. Louis and joins the Braves as a true freshman.  The 5-foot-10 guard earned all-district honors as both a junior and a senior, after helping Whitfield to a state runner-up finish as a freshman in 2009 and a third-place place state tournament finish in 2010.

With the entire 16-man roster on campus for the start of the fall semester, the Braves have begun individual workouts and will tip off the start of the traditional season Oct. 12 with the Red-White Scrimmage at Renaissance Coliseum.
