ATLANTA - Former Bradley pitcher Rob Scahill (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook H.S.) will become the 14th player in Braves history to reach the Major Leagues when he joins the Colorado Rockies for the third game of a 4-game series against Atlanta Wednesday at Turner Field.

Scahill, who has pitched for the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate Colorado Springs Sky Sox all season, has been added to Colorado's 40-man roster for the remainder of the season.  He will be the first Brave in the big leagues since Brian Shouse last pitched for Tampa Bay in 2009.  Of the 14 Bradley players to reach the Major League level, Scahill will be the eighth pitcher.

Scahill pitched at Bradley from 2006-09, compiling a 10-15 career record with a 4.70 earned run average.  A 6-foot-3 right-hander, he originally was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 48th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, but opted to return to Bradley for his junior season.  As a fourth-year junior in 2009, Scahill was an honorable mention All-Missouri Valley Conference starting pitching, going 3-3 with a 4.05 ERA.  Sidelined by an early-season oblique injury, he finished strong and was particularly dominant at home in 2009 by posting a 3-0 record with 0.86 ERA in four starts at O'Brien Field.

The decision to return to Bradley for a fourth year paid off:  Scahill was selected by Colorado in the eighth round of the 2009 MLB Draft and he has steadily worked his way up the Rockies organization.  In four minor league seasons, he is 32-33 with a 4.57 earned run average at Class A Short-Season Tri-City (2009), Class A Advanced Modesto (2010), Double-A Tulsa (2011) and Triple-A Colorado Springs (2012).

In 29 starts for the Sky Sox this season, Scahill was 9-11 with a 5.68 ERA and ranked among the Pacific Coast League strikeout leaders all year.  In his 152.0 innings this year, Scahill fanned 159 hitters, third-most in the PCL and all of Triple-A.
