PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore women's golfer Thea Hedemann (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Walter Murray) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after tying for sixth at the season-opening Redbird Invitational.
Hedemann matched freshman Danielle Lemek's (Doniphan, Neb./Doniphan-Trumbull) 54-hole total of 229 at the Redbird Invitational as the pair led the Braves to a fifth-place finish in the 15-team field. Hedemann opened play with a one-over par 73 en route to her fifth career top-10 finish and placed in the top 10 in a tournament for the fourth time in her last five events dating back to last season. A biochemistry major, Hedemann owns a 3.77 cumulative grade point average.

Hedemann and the Braves return to action Monday and Tuesday at the Cardinal Cup in Louisville, Ky.
