PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior runner Cassie Lohmeier (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after pacing the Bradley women's cross country team at the 11th annual Greater Louisville Classic.
Lohmeier was Bradley's top finisher at one of the largest meets in the country this season, helping the Braves to an 18th-place finish in the 31-team Greater Louisville Classic. She missed a career-best 5K time by five seconds, finishing 67th overall at 17:47.10. A health science major, Lohmeier owns a 3.93 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Lohmeier and the Bradley cross country teams will be back in action Friday, Oct. 12, at the ninth annual Bradley Classic. The first of four races at Newman Golf Course is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
