PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior forward Scott Davis (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after scoring the game-winning goal in the Bradley soccer team's 3-1 home victory against 17th-ranked Northwestern.
Shortly after his squad pulled even with Northwestern at 1-1 early in the second half, Davis netted his first career game-winner at 51:05 to give the Braves a 2-1 lead and help power Bradley to a 3-1 upset of the Wildcats. A finance major, Davis owns a 3.36 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Davis and the Braves are in action tonight, playing a 7 p.m. match at SIU Edwardsville before returning home for Saturday's homecoming matchup with Evansville (6:30 p.m.) at Shea Stadium.
