PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley men's golf team will wrap up the fall schedule at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate for the second consecutive year, taking part in the 26-team tournament Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the par-71 Turtle Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The Braves will be facing the largest tournament field the squad has faced since playing in a 26-team event at the Drake Relays Invitational in April 1987. BradleyBraves.com will provide links to live scoring for all three rounds. Play is scheduled to begin Sunday with morning and afternoon tee times. Monday's action will also include tee times with the tournament wrapping up Tuesday with a 7:30 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start.
The tournament field features teams from 13 different states and includes defending champ Campbell and tournament-host Charleston Southern. Four teams ranked in the top 100 of golfweek.com's ratings help highlight the field - #63 South Carolina, #82 College of Charleston, #87 Jacksonville State and #90 Winthrop.
Sophomore Danny Masrin (Palatine, Ill./Jakarta International School) tied for 20th to help Bradley finish in a tie for seventh at last year's Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. Carding his lowest round of the fall at last year's event, Masrin posted his first career top-20 finish as the Braves finished with their lowest 54-hole team score (915) of the fall.
Masrin is second on the team with a 76.3 stroke average and fired his lowest round of the season (72) to conclude play at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate last week. Junior Kyle Gunther (Dunlap, Ill./Peoria Christian) owns a team-best 75.4 stroke average after playing in two of three events this fall, while sophomore Seth Trolia (Mahomet, Ill./Seymour) has shot 75.8 per round over the last four rounds and is third on the squad with a 76.8 stroke average.
