PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior defender Alexei Davies-Campbell (Hamilton, New Zealand/Hamilton Boys School) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley soccer team to a 1-0-1 record last week.
Davies-Campbell scored a goal in the 86th minute of last week's 3-0 win at Loyola, while helping the Braves to their fifth shutout of the season. He helped limit the Ramblers to 13 shots, including four on goal in the final non-conference match of the year. Saturday against Central Arkansas, Davies-Campbell played 98 minutes in a 1-1 tie as Bradley limited the Bears to eight shots. A chemistry major, Davies-Campbell owns a 3.20 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Davies-Campbell and the Bradley soccer team return to action tonight, facing Central Arkansas (6 p.m.) in the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament at Shea Stadium.
