PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior Catie O'Leary (Janesville, Wis./Parker/Wisconsin) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley women's basketball team to a pair of road victories last week.
O'Leary averaged 12.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game, in addition to shooting 90 percent from the free throw line in BU's two road wins. For the second consecutive game, she finished a rebound short of a double-double, collecting 10 points, nine rebounds and one steal in a 66-65 victory at Eastern Illinois for Bradley's first one-point road win since Jan. 2004. She tied for team-high honors with 15 points and matched a career-best 12 rebounds for her second career double-double in Thursday's 83-77 win at Illinois. A nursing major, O'Leary owns a 3.43 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
O'Leary and the Braves return to action Friday at 5 p.m. (CST) facing Conference USA preseason favorite Tulane in the opening round of the Northern Arizona Thanksgiving Classic in Flagstaff, Ariz.
