PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior pitcher John Nasshan (Niles, Ill./Niles West) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after two scoreless outings out of the bullpen last week.
Nasshan did not allow a run in 3.1 innings out of the bullpen in the weekend series against Wichita State, scattering three hits in his two appearances. He struck out four and walked two against the league-leading Shockers. In Saturday's game, Nasshan gave up two hits in 2.2 innings and struck out three batters. He surrendered one hit and struck out one in two-thirds of an inning Sunday. A mathematics - secondary education major, Nasshan owns a 3.46 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Nasshan and the Braves return to action Friday, opening a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series at Missouri State with a 6:30 p.m. game in Springfield, Mo.
