CHICAGO, Ill. -- Bradley railled from behind to win each of its first two games of the season, but the Braves weren't lucky enough to make it three in a row Saturday, as Illinois-Chicago topped BU 72-61 at the UIC Pavilion.

UIC (1-0 overall) led by as many as 12 points in the first half before the Braves would come from behind to take a three-point lead midway through the second half. Bradley (2-1 overall) scored just four points in the final seven minutes, however, as the Flames closed out the contest with an 18-4 run en route to the 72-61 victory.

The Braves struggled offensively, shooting 31 percent from the field in the contest but more than held their own on the glass without sophomore Sonya Harris (Riverdale, Ill./Thornton), who missed the game due to injury. Bradley outrebounded UIC 49-41 with senior Monica Rogers (Forsyth, Ill./St. Teresa/Hampton) corralling a game-high 16 boards to go along with 12 points.

UIC scored the first six points of the game and led by as many as 12 points in the first half. Just like the first two games of the season, Bradley trailed at the half (41-32) but opened the second half with a flurry and whittled the Flames advantage to three points (48-45) with just over 12 minutes to play. UIC would extend its lead back to nine points (54-45).

Rogers made a pair of free throws and followed it up with an assist on a Jenny Van Kirk (Waconia, Minn./Waconia) basket to spark a 12-0 BU run. Freshman guard Michelle Lund (Sioux City, Iowa/Bishop Heelan) knocked down a three-pointer after a Bradley steal and found senior forward Kelly Krumwiede (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) for a jumper in the lane to tie the score at 54-54. Senior Aseer Itiavkase (Paducah, Ky./Tilghman/John A. Logan) gave Bradley its only lead of the afternoon with a three-pointer from the wing to put the Braves in front 57-54 with 7:27 remaining in the contest.

Jessie Miller would answer with a three-pointer on the Flames' next possession to tie the score at 57-57. BU went cold from the field, missing its next 10 shots as UIC would go back in front 64-58 with just over two minutes to play.

Lund would come up big again for the Braves with her sixth three-point basket of the afternoon to pull the Braves to within three points (64-61) with just over one minute on the clock. Miller made a driving layup on the other end for UIC and helped seal the win with a pair of free throws following a BU turnover. The Flames would make four of six free throws in the final 32 seconds to push the lead to 72-61. After opening the second half by making 9-of-21 shots from the field, the Braves went 1-for-14 over the final six minutes.

Rogers posted her second consecutive double-double, finishing with 12 points and 16 rebounds while dishing out five assists. Lund paced the Braves in scoring with a season-best 18 points, connecting on 6-of-11 from beyond the arc. Van Kirk finished with nine points and seven rebounds in her second start of the season.

Miller led all players with 24 points on 9-for-14 shooting. Briana Hinkle added 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Flames, while freshman Jasmine Bailey collected 11 points and a team-high 12 rebounds to help lead UIC.

The Braves return to action Tuesday when BU plays host to Northern Illinois at 7:05 p.m. at Illinois Central College's Lorene Ramsey Gym.
