PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley Athletics is once again a leader in the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) of its student-athletes, according to the NCAA's annual release of GSR data Tuesday. Bradley University student-athletes graduated at a 92 percent rate, compared to 82 percent for all student-athletes across the country who began college in 2004.
Bradley's most-recent GSR ranks second in the Missouri Valley Conference and is third among the NCAA Division I institutions in the state of Illinois behind only Northwestern (96) and DePaul (93).
"The NCAA's announcement reaffirms our student athletes' achievements in the classroom while balancing the demands of competing at the highest levels of collegiate athletics," said Bradley Director of Athletics Dr. Michael Cross. "I commend all of them for achieving their degree and thank the coaches and academic staff who supported them as they learned from Bradley's exceptional faculty during their time on the Hilltop."
For the second consecutive year, Bradley led The Valley in GSR in eight individual sports and ranked in the top three in one other. Women's Basketball (100) was the only newcomer among the eight sports Bradley leads the MVC in, joining repeat honorees women's cross country/track (100), men's golf (100), women's golf (100), soccer (91), men's tennis (100), women's tennis (100) and volleyball (100). The softball team (94) was the lone Bradley team to boast a GSR of 90 or better and not lead The Valley.
Of the NCAA Division I schools in the Midwestern states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin, Bradley's overall GSR ranked sixth behind only Creighton, Dayton, Notre Dame, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Xavier.
