DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drake's Torey Craddock hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third for the only run of the day as the Bulldogs completed a series sweep of Bradley with a 1-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Ron Buel Field.
Bradley (11-17 overall, 1-5 MVC) managed three hits off Drake pitchers with freshman Alyson Clemente (Murrieta, Calif./Murrieta Valley) going 2-for-3 at the plate for the Braves.
Drake (13-14 overall, 6-0 MVC) had leadoff hits in both the first and second innings, but BU hurler Mackenzie Camp (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone) kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard in both frames.
Craddock scored the only run of the game with one out in the top of the third inning, belting her second homer of the series and fourth of the year to give Drake a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs left a runner on base in the fourth, fifth and six innings, before Bradley mounted a late rally attempt in the top of the seventh. Clemente had a one-out single to left for her second hit of the contest and moved to second on a groundout. With the tying run on second, Drake hurler Rebekah Schmidt retired a BU pinch hitter to close out the game and earned the save.
Drake's Jordan Gronewold earned the win for the Bulldogs, striking out five and scattering two hits over five innings as she evened her record at 10-10 with the victory. Camp took the loss for Bradley, dropping to 4-6 on the season. She gave up one run on five hits in 4.2 innings of work.
Bradley returns to action Wednesday, playing a doubleheader at Western Illinois starting at 3:30 p.m. in Macomb, Ill.
