INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Bradley men's tennis squad earned its first team victory of the season with a 5-2 victory over IUPUI at the Butler Tennis Bubble Saturday morning. Senior Milos Romic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sport Gymnasium) improved to 2-0 in No. 1 singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Deon Shafer. Freshmen Juan Cuadrado (Almeria, Spain/I.E.S. Alboran) and Brock Reiman (Morton, Ill./Morton H.S.) each picked up their first singles wins of the season Saturday. Cuadrado cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win against Gregory Sosa in No. 3 singles, while Reiman battled Nick Volz to a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) decision in his No. 4 singles match. In No. 6 singles, freshman Eric Nguyen (Ottawa, Ontario/John Rennie H.S.) won his second-consecutive match with a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 victory over Joel Modesitt. Bradley's two singles losses came at slots two and five. Senior Callen Fraychineaud (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Newbury Park H.S.) dropped his No. 2 singles match to Daniel Klingenberg 6-4, 6-4, while Jorge Yunes outlasted senior Richard Robertson (Brisbane, Australia/Brisbane Grammar School) in No. 5 singles 6-3, 7-5. Bradley took two-of-three doubles matches for their fifth point. Robertson/Nguyen beat Volz/Shafer 8-5 in the two slot and Fraychineaud/Reiman handled Modesitt/Tunis 8-3 in No. 3 doubles. The Braves' No. 1 tandem of Romic/Cuadrado fell to Yunes/Klingenberg 8-4. The Braves will return to action Saturday, Feb. 13 at Marquette at 10 a.m. |
