INDIANAPOLIS - Senior guard Chris Roberts (Fort Worth, Texas/Dunbar H.S.) added to his Bradley Basketball legend Thursday night by finishing second in the State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship at Bracket Town in the Indiana Convention Center.

Roberts scored a 47.5 on his first dunk, tossing the ball off the backboard and slamming it home with one hand.  He followed by earning a perfect score of 50 on his second dunk of the first round to advance into the semifinals as the No 1 qualifier.  After missing his first attempt on the second dunk, Roberts again went off the backboard, caught the rebound facing the basket, then spun 180 degrees in midair for a two-handed reverse slam.

After narrowing the eight-team field to four for the semifinals, each competitor scored just one dunk in the third round.  Roberts advanced to the championship round by teaming with UNI guard Ali Farokhmanesh for a 44.5 score.  The two players set up in the right corner and ran the baseline toward the basket.  Farokhmanesh bounced the ball off the side of the backboard and Roberts flew in for a two-handed catch and slam.

In the 60-second championship round, Roberts missed on his first three attempts and ended up beating the clock with a one-handed windmill for a final score of 40.  Vermont's Marqus Blakely took the title by leaping over Wake Forest's 6-foot-4 L.D. Williams for a two-handed follow dunk and a score of 41.

Roberts owns the distinction of making the longest game-winning shot in college basketball postseason history, a 75-footer to knock off Oakland in the quarterfinals of the 2009 Postseason Tournament, but he is well-known among Bradley fans for his high-flying dunks.  During his two-year Bradley career, the 6-foot-4 wing made four appearances on ESPN SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays, first for the 75-footer and three more times for his dunks.  Most recently, he earned the No. 2 rank, or 1B according to the studio talent, March 5 for his go-ahead follow slam versus Creighton in the quarterfinals of the 2010 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
