PEORIA, Ill. -- The Grammy award-winning alternative rock band Weezer will perform the inaugural concert in the new arena at Bradley University on Saturday, September 25 at 8 p.m.

The concert, the first in Bradley's new $50 million arena, is presented by the Activities Council of Bradley University (ACBU), the main student programming board of Bradley University.

Since forming in 1992, Weezer has released seven full-length recordings, including classics such as the Blue Album and Pinkerton, as well as their latest effort, 2009's Raditude. The band has sold more than eight million recordings worldwide and is best known for their hit singles "Undone," "Say It Ain't So," "Beverly Hills," "Buddy Holly," and "Island in the Sun." Recently, the band contributed the song, "I'm a Believer," to the Shrek Forever After soundtrack and released "Represent," the unofficial anthem of the U.S. soccer team during the World Cup.

Tickets for the general public go on sale Tuesday, September 7 at the arena box office, all Ticketmaster locations and online at www.ticketmaster.com. All seating is reserved and tickets are $45. Free parking will be available on the Bradley University campus. Bradley students will have the opportunity to purchase discounted presale tickets on campus beginning 9 a.m. August 30. Faculty and staff will be able to buy discounted tickets beginning on September 1, the same day holders of arena PSOs (personal seat options) can purchase their tickets.

Weezer's appearance will mark the return of major concerts to campus. The arena, opening this fall, is a 4500-seat venue that includes the Burklund Family Heritage Hall which houses the Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame. The arena is home to athletic facilities, state-of-the-art conference and hospitality rooms, and administrative offices for the Athletics Department. It will also be home to the women's basketball and volleyball teams. The arena was built on the site of the historic Robertson Memorial Field House, a venue where the University hosted major concerts and athletic events for six decades. The arena is one of the capital improvements that are the focus of The Campaign for a Bradley Renaissance launched in April 2008 with a goal of $150 million.

ACBU brings live entertainment to campus, including musicians, comedians and lecturers. Traditional events such as Homecoming, Siblings Weekend, Spring Fling and Parents Weekend are also sponsored by ACBU. Ten student-run committees are responsible for the coordination of all performances, events and activities.

The arena box office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday during the academic year. It is located at the Main Street entrance of the arena.
