FRESNO, Calif. - Junior Lindsay Hufeld (Mapleton, Ill./Limestone/Illinois Central) gave up just two hits in a complete-game effort, but a two-run, first inning home run by Michelle Moses provided all the runs Fresno State would need as the Bulldogs topped Bradley 2-0 Friday night at the Bayer CropScience Classic.

Brooke Ortiz reached on an error with one out in the first inning and Moses followed with a one-out, two-run homer to give Fresno State (10-4 overall) a 2-0 lead.  After giving up a single later in the inning, Hufeld allowed just one base runner over her final five innings of work when Haley Gilleland reached on an error to lead off the sixth.

Bradley (5-16 overall) didn't have any more success against Fresno State's Mackenzie Oakes, however, managing just two hits in the contest.

The Braves had their best scoring chance in the top of the fourth inning after junior Julie Sherman (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) led off the inning with a single.  BU had runners at second and third with one out after KayCee Miller (Omaha, Neb./Papillion-LaVista) reached on an error, but the Braves came up empty.

Junior Alison Kresl (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) had a one-out double in the sixth, before Oakes settled down to retire the next two batters and went on to pitch a two-hit shutout.  Oakes struck out two in the complete-game victory to improve to 6-2 on the year.

Hufeld fanned four hitters and walked none in the complete game effort, but dropped to 1-7 on the season with the loss.

Bradley continues play at the Bayer CropScience Classic Saturday with a pair of games beginning with a 1 p.m. (CST) contest against Idaho State.
