PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore guard Walt Lemon, Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Julian) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after averaging 16.0 points and 5.5 assists in two games last week.
Lemon opened the week with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists in Bradley's game against Southern Illinois, before capping the week with 16 points, four boards and a career-best eight assists against 24th-ranked Creighton. He also added one block and steals against the Bluejays. A psychology major, Lemon owns a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Lemon and the Braves return to action Friday, closing out a two-game Missouri Valley Conference road swing with a 7 p.m. game at Wichita State.
