PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore women's tennis player Meredith McDonagh (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after posting a 2-2 record during the Bradley women's tennis team's first two matches of the spring.
After dropping a tough 6-3, 6-4 decision at #6 singles against Wisconsin-Milwaukee and suffering an 8-5 setback in double action against the Panthers, McDonagh rebounded for a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #6 singles against Chicago State and teamed with freshman Elizabeth Przystawski (Prospect, Ky./Assumption) for an 8-3 win at #3 doubles. Enrolled in Bradley's award-winning Academic Exploration Program, McDonagh owns a 3.32 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
McDonagh and the Braves return to action Friday, opening a three-game home stand with a 1 p.m. match against Saint Louis at the Clubs at River City.
