PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore guard Kelsey Budd (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Bradley women's basketball team to a 75-61 win against Northern Iowa last Friday.
Budd scored a game-high 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting to help the Braves extend their home win streak to a season-high four games. She also had six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals in a career-best 38 minutes. Budd made 5-of-6 shots in the second half and led four Bradley players in double figures in scoring. A sports communication major, Budd owns a 3.55 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Budd and the Braves return to action Friday, hosting Drake in a 6 p.m. game at Renaissance Coliseum.
