PEORIA, Ill. -- The Bradley women's basketball team was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Honor Roll according to an announcement by the WBCA Tuesday, ranking 19th in the nation with a 3.396 grade point average during the 2011-12 school year.

Bradley, which appeared on the WBCA Honor Roll for the first time since 2005-06, boasted its highest national ranking on the WBCA Honor Roll since ranking eighth in the nation in grade point average during the 1999-2000 season.  Ten of 14 squad members earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in both semesters during the 2010-11 school year and 13 individuals made the Honor Roll at least one semester.

Former Brave MacKenzie Westcott (Williamsburg, Iowa/Williamsburg) was a First-Team Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete selection and one of five BU players to earn Valley Scholar-Athlete distinction.  Juniors Kelsey Budd (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Sauk Prairie) and Catie O'Leary (Janesville, Wis./Parker/Wisconsin) along with senior Katie Yohn (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward) and Lauren Niemiera (Orland Park, Ill./Marist) received honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete recognition last year.

Bradley was one of two Missouri Valley Conference schools ranked in the top 25 on the WBCA Academic Honor Roll.  Northern Iowa tied with New Mexico for 14th with a 3.403 team GPA.  Wisconsin-Green Bay led the nation with a 3.616 team grade point average.
