HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- Bradley baseball player Mike Tauchman (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd H.S.) is the most-recent Brave to earn summer all-star status. Tauchman has been selected to represent the American squad in the 2012 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game, according to an announcement from the CPL Monday.
The 2012 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game will be played at Historic Fleming Stadium in Wilson, N.C. Monday night.
One of three players to represent the Fayetteville SwampDogs in this year’s All-Star Game, Tauchman enters tonight’s game against Petersburg as the league’s second-leading hitter with a .381 batting average and boasts a 12-game hitting streak. The 6-foot-2 outfielder, who will be a senior for the Braves in 2012, also leads the CPL with 25 stolen bases, is third in the league with a .452 on-base percentage and is tied for third in the league with 43 hits.
Keyed by Tauchman’s hot bat, Fayetteville currently leads the CPL East Division with an 8-2 record to start the second-half of the league season.
Bradley teammates Max Murphy (Robbinsdale, Minn./Cooper H.S.) and David Koll (Lake Elmo, Minn./Stillwater Area H.S.) participated in the Great Leakes Summer Collegiate League All-Star Game last week. Murphy was 0-for-2 while Koll pitched a scoreless inning, both for the South team.
In his last five games, Murphy has gone 9-for-19 (.474) at the plate with two doubles, two home runs and eight runs batted in. In his most recent outing, the sophomore Brave went 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and six RBI. A Freshman All-American for the Braves in 2012, the 5-foot-11 outfielder has led the Stark County Terriers to four wins in their last five games and his hot hitting has boosted Murphy’s season batting average to .385, good for sixth in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate league.

Bradley teammates Chris Godinez (Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest H.S.), Stephen Toma (Bristol, Ill./Yorkville H.S.) and Graig Weber (Columbia Heights, Minn./Fridley H.S.) are fighting to stay alive in the National Baseball Congress 2012 Midwest Regional as the Eldorado Broncos are currently 1-1 in the double-elimination tournament. Godinez was 1-3 with a walk in the Bronco’s 10-2 loss Monday, while Weber pitched in the final inning of the game, allowing 2 unearned runs and striking out one.
El Dorado is one of three Jayhawk League teams participating in the 12-team Midwest Regional, a qualifier for the NBC World Series to be played later this summer at Wichita's Lawrence-Dumont Stadium. After splitting its first two games in the regional, three consecutive wins would put El Dorado into the championship game.
Steve Adkins (Elmhurst, Ill./York H.S.) – Adkins earned his fourth victory for the Chillicothe Mudcats this past week in a 21-3 win against the Nevada Griffins. The junior right-handed pitcher scattered six hits and three runs over 6.0 innings while striking out three. Adkins has yet to allow more than three earned runs in any of his seven starts this season.
Isaac Smith (Richmond, Ky./Madison Central H.S.) – Smith continued his hot hitting for the Chillicothe Mudcats this past week going 9-for-19 (.474) for the second consecutive week, while adding three runs batted in, three stolen bases and nine runs scored.
