CARSON, Calif. – Former Bradley star Bryan Gaul (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) started, played the full 90 minutes and earned his first career point, helping the LA Galaxy to a 3-1 victory against Chivas USA Saturday night at the Home Depot Center.

Gaul assisted Landon Donovan’s second goal of the night, a 78th minute tally that cemented the game’s final score and secured the Galaxy’s sixth win in the last nine games.  The scoring play started with a David Beckham corner kick.  The ball eventually fell to Gaul in the center of the box and his shot was deflected to Donovan for the easy finish.  With the victory, the Galaxy (9-10-3) picked up three more points in the MLS Western Conference standings and moved to within one point of fourth-place Seattle.

Selected in the first round of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft, Gaul now has played in eight games and has earned four starts for the Galaxy.  A first-team NSCAA All-Midwest Region honoree during the 2010 and 2011 seasons at Bradley, Gaul helped the Braves to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history.

The Galaxy is in action tonight (9:30 p.m. CDT), hosting the Barclays Premier League’s Tottenham Hotspur in a friendly at the Home Depot Center that can be viewed online on ESPN3.com.  Los Angeles will resume its MLS schedule Saturday (7 p.m.) at FC Dallas in a game that will be televised by NBC Sports.
