PEORIA, Ill. – The Braves claimed at least a share of half of the singles flight titles by combining for a 7-3 record during the final two rounds of the Bradley Classic Sunday at the David Markin and Bradley Park Tennis Courts.
Juniors Hamish Weerasinghe (Flight 3), Arthur Romanet (Flight 4) and Justin Abrams (Flight 6) all won their respective flights with perfect 4-0 records, while senior Juan Diego Cuadrado won both of his Sunday matches to force a 3-way tie for first in Flight 1 singles.
Among Sunday’s other Bradley highlights, junior Ashton Kalhorn evened off his tournament record by pulling out a pair of 3-set victories at in Flight 5 Sunday.
After combining for a 10-6 record in four flights of doubles Friday, Bradley’s eight singles players racked up a cumulative 21-8 singles record to pace the Bradley Classic field, which included players from DePauw, IUPUI, Saint Louis and South Dakota State.
Bradley has completed the home portion of its fall schedule. The Braves will compete in the ITA All-American Championship pre-qualifying Sept. 29-30 in Tulsa, Okla., then will close out the fall season at the USTA/ITA Central Region Championships Oct. 18-21 in Minneapolis.
