PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior men's tennis player Hamish Weerasinghe (Edina, Minn./Edina) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after winning the Flight 3 singles title at last week's Bradley Classic.
Weerasinghe went a perfect 4-0, claiming the Flight 3 singles title and also combined with junior Ashton Kalhorn (Colorado Springs, Colo./Coronado [Nev.]) to earn a share of the Flight 2 doubles title with a 3-1 record at the Bradley Classic. Weerasinghe is a perfect 8-0 in singles play this fall and has teamed with Kalhorn for a 7-1 mark in doubles play. An accounting major, Weerasinghe owns a 3.38 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Weerasinghe and the Braves are back in action Sept. 29 & 30 at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.
