NORMAL, Ill. – Junior Adele Henke paced the Bradley women’s tennis team during the first day of the Redbird Roundup Friday at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts and Evergreen Racquet Club.

While the 12 Bradley players combined for a 4-13 record during the first round of singles play in three flights, Henke was 2-0 in Singles Flight 3, though one of her wins came against teammate Brigitte Graf.  Henke began her day with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Illinois State’s Ashton Nisbet.

Brigitte Graf advanced to her match against Henke by earning a 6-0, 7-6 (6) win against Morehead State’s Morgan Wright in Singles Flight 3 preliminary action.  Bradley’s other singles win of the day was recorded by Meredith McDonagh in preliminary action in Singles Flight 2, when her opponent, Butler’s Angelini Qin, retired midway through the opening set.

Bradley’s five doubles teams were winless in the first round of two flights, though Monique Graf teamed with Morehead State’s Morgan Wright for a default win against Butler’s Laura Shull and Sienna Reuter.

The Redbird Roundup is a three-day event featuring Bradley, Butler, Dayton, Drake, Illinois State and Morehead State.  Play will resume Saturday morning at the Gregory Street Tennis Courts.
