PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley men’s basketball team will make at least three appearances on the ESPN family of networks during the 2012-13 season, according to the league-wide ESPN network package announced by the Missouri Valley Conference Thursday afternoon.
Thursday’s announcement from The Valley is the first step toward Bradley’s complete television broadcast package. The league next will announce its own MVC-TV package of games, anchored on Fox Sports Midwest, before the member schools can begin assembling their local broadcast packages.
Carver Arena will be featured for all three of Bradley’s ESPN family broadcasts: Dec. 1 versus Michigan and Jan. 6 against Wichita State, both on ESPNU, as well as an ESPN wildcard broadcast Feb. 10 versus Northern Iowa, which will be shown on either ESPNU or ESPN3. Both the start time and ESPN network for the Feb. 10 game versus the Panthers will be announced three weeks prior to the game date.
The Braves could play themselves into two more ESPN family telecasts: Feb. 23 during the 11th annual BracketBusters series and March 2 at Missouri State. The ESPN networks will broadcast 13 games during BracketBusters weekend -- five on ESPN2, four on ESPNU and four on ESPN3 – as well as one regular-season finale March 2 on ESPN2 during MVC Wildcard Weekend.
In addition to The Valley’s ESPN package, CBS once again has purchased the broadcast rights to the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Championship game and will televise the 1 p.m. final nationally. Bradley’s final game in the 2012 Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic against either Colorado State or Portland will be shown on the CBS Sports Network (Comcast Cable channel 531, DirecTV channel 613 and DISH Network channel 158).
In addition to The Valley’s ESPN announcement, the final two start times on Bradley’s schedule have been determined. The Nov. 20 game at South Florida will tip off at 6:30 p.m. (CT) and the Jan. 23 game at Evansville will tip at 7:05 p.m.
The Braves will make their 2012-13 public debut Oct. 12 when they participate in the annual Red-White Scrimmage, part of next week’s Cram the Coliseum event. A marquee event on Bradley University’s Homecoming schedule, Cram the Coliseum will begin at 6 p.m. with the Bradley Volleyball team’s Valley match versus Southern Illinois. The annual men’s and women’s basketball Red-White Scrimmage immediately will follow the volleyball game.
Tickets for Cram the Coliseum, as well as season tickets and the Valley 8-Pack mini-season ticket plan, are on sale now at the Bradley Athletics Ticket Office at Renaissance Coliseum. Tickets prices for the Cram the Coliseum volleyball/basketball doubleheader are $6 for adults, $3 for children (K-12) and free for Bradley University students, faculty and staff, as well as active members of the military, all with valid identification.
