MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Bradley sophomore Ahmed Albitar advanced to the second round of the Singles Consolation Bracket, highlighting Day 3 of play for the Braves at the 2012 ITA Central Regional Championship at Baseline Tennis Center.
Albitar earned a 6-2, 6-4 win against Iowa’s Garrett Dunn and will face Oklahoma’s Nick Papac in the second round of the consolation bracket Sunday. Papac advanced with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Bradley junior Justin Abrams.
The Braves dropped two more first-round matches in the consolation bracket Saturday: Oklahoma’s Harry Warden beat Juan Diego Cuadrado (6-3, 6-0) and Nebraska’s Marc Herrmann took down Arthur Romanet (6-2, 6-3).
Junior Hamish Weerasinghe found a similar fate in the Main Draw Saturday, dropping a 6-1, 6-0 decision to Iowa’s Jonas Diercrx.
