PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior guard Walt Lemon, Jr., (Chicago, Ill./Julian) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping the Braves to a 2-2 record.
Lemon averaged 10.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.8 steals in four games last week in the 2012 Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. He collected eight points, three boards, three assists and steals in a win against Georgia Southern, before scoring 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting vs. Mississippi Valley State. Lemon had nine points and three assists against Virginia Tech, before capping the week with 10 points, three rebounds, three assists and six steals in a two-point setback to Portland. A psychology major, Lemon owns a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Lemon and the Braves open Missouri Valley Conference play Saturday, hosting Drake in a 7 p.m. game at Carver Arena.
