ST. LOUIS – Bradley senior Kennedy Scott (Calgary, Alberta/National Sports School) has been selected the Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, according to an announcement today by the league office.
Unable to play the last two seasons due to injury, Scott helped the Braves (3-3) to a 2-1 team record last weekend by accumulating a 4-1 singles and doubles record. In her only action Saturday, Scott teamed with Carly Miles at No. 3 doubles against Western Michigan, dropping an 8-5 decision in the most closely-contested result of the dual match with the Broncos.
Scott and Miles picked up a pair of doubles victories Sunday, cruising to an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles versus IUPUI, followed by an 8-5 victory at No. 2 doubles against Kalamazoo College. In singles action Sunday, Scott breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 6 singles against IUPUI, then rallied for a 3-set win at No. 4 singles at Kalamazoo (3-6, 6-0, 6-4).
With three wins in their last four matches, the Braves will try to carry that momentum over to their first home competitions of the season, beginning with a Saturday doubleheader verus Valparaiso (12 p.m.) and Milwaukee (4 p.m.) at the Clubs at River City South. Bradley will close out the 3-match weekend by hosting Eastern Illinois Sunday (2 p.m.) at Clubs at River City North.
