PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore women's tennis player Carly Miles (Greentown, Ind./Eastern) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after posting a 4-2 record last week.
In Bradley's 6-1 victory against IUPUI Sunday, Miles teamed with Kennedy Scott for an 8-1 win at #3 doubles before picking up a 7-5, 6-2 win at #5 singles to help highlight the team victory. Later that day, she and Scott combined for an 8-5 win at #2 doubles in BU's 8-1 win against Kalamazoo College. In singles play, she posted a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory at #3 singles. A health science major, Miles owns a 3.78 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Miles and the Braves return to action Saturday, opening a five-match home stand with a noon contest against Valparaiso. The Braves will also host Milwaukee Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Clubs at River City.
