LAKELAND, Fla. – Leftfielder Mike Tauchman was 2-for-4 with a home run and four runs batted in, but Bradley (9-11) was unable to dig out of an early hole, dropping a 7-4 decision to Dartmouth (11-1) Saturday afternoon in its final game of the RussMatt Baseball CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
Tauchman, who extended his career-best hitting streak to 14 games, his a 2-run home run in the sixth inning and added a 2-run single in the seventh. His seventh-inning hit pulled the Braves to within 5-4, but Dartmouth responded with a 2-run double from Keller in the top of the eighth to regain control.
The Big Green benefitted from a walk, two errors and a wild pitch during its 3-run first inning. Keller hit his first of two, 2-run doubles in the sixth inning, stretching the Dartmouth lead to 5-0 before the Braves tried to rally.
Bradley will visit Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Wednesday night, before opening its home and Missouri Valley Conference schedule Friday night against Evansville. Friday’s home opener is slated for a 6 p.m. start and will be followed by a 2 p.m. game Saturday and a 1 p.m. game Sunday, all at Peoria Chiefs Stadium (formerly O’Brien Field).
