PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley rallied from a 3-1 deficit by winning the third set in each of the last three matches, earning a 4-3 women’s tennis victory against visiting Omaha (4-10) Friday afternoon at the David Markin Tennis Courts.
The Braves (8-10) matched the program’s best season victory total in the last 20 years when No. 6 singles player Kennedy Scott pulled out a 7-6, 4-6, 7-5 win in the final match of the day. Coming off consecutive 3-20 campaigns, Bradley now has won eight matches in five seasons since a 14-7 campaign in 1992-93.
Scott was given the opportunity to play for the clinching point when sophomore Cassia Wojtalik fought off five match points in the third set for a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 win at No. 4 singles.
After the Mavericks swept the three doubles matches to earn the day’s first point, Elizabeth Przystawski breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles to knot the match at 1-1. Omaha moved to within one point of the win by winning a pair of straight-set decisions at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, but Carly Miles started the Bradley comeback with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Bradley will start a five-match road swing Saturday with a 1 p.m. match at Missouri Valley Conference rival Evansville and will complete the weekend action with a 10 a.m. match Sunday at Southern Illinois.
