PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley junior men’s tennis player Ashton Kalhorn (Colorado Springs, Colo./Coronado {Nev.} H.S.) is a repeat selection for the Capital One Academic All-District V men’s at-large team, according to a vote of district sports information directors announced Thursday.

Kalhorn, who boasts a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average as a chemistry business major, becomes eligible for 2013 Capital One Academic All-America consideration. He joins Evgeny Samoylov (2008, 2009) as the only two-time Academic All-District honorees in Bradley men’s tennis history.

In addition to his success in the classroom, Kalhorn posted an 18-15 overall singles record in 2012-13, including a 14-10 mark during the Spring dual match season, and added a 19-11 doubles record. He has helped the Braves to the most wins (43) in a 3-year period by the program since 1988-89-90 and three straight winning seasons for the first time since 1987-88-89.

Bradley’s recipient of the 2013 Spring Missouri Valley Conference Leadership and Service Award, Kalhorn has participated in a piano concert benefitting Easter Seals the last two years and organized the 2013 event, which generated more than $1,100 for the charitable organization. He also participated in the 2011 NCAA Leadership Forum and was a member of the 2011-12 Braves Council student-athlete advisory committee.

CoSIDA District V is comprised of college sports information directors from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan and the men’s at-large category encompasses the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. To be nominated, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
