PEORIA, Ill. — Leyna Hebert has been named Assistant Athletic Trainer, according to an announcement by Bradley Head Athletic Trainer Chris Williams Monday.
Hebert will work primarily with Bradley’s soccer and men’s and women’s golf teams and comes to The Hilltop after spending the previous four years as an assistant athletic trainer at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. She worked directly with the men’s and women’s soccer teams during her tenure at Cedarville, overseeing the athletic training needs for the 2010 national runner-up men’s soccer squad each of the last three seasons.
In addition, Hebert worked with the Yellow Jackets track and field programs, serving as the host athletic trainer for the 2010 and 2012 National Christian College Athletic Association’s (NCCAA) Indoor National Championships. During that span the women’s track and field team claimed the 2012 NCCAA indoor national championship and the men’s team was the 2011 NCCAA outdoor national champs.
“I am very excited to have Leyna join our athletic training staff,” said Williams. “She has worked with soccer teams at multiple different levels of athletics and has experienced great success both on and off the field. I expect Leyna to continue to succeed with our soccer and golf programs at Bradley.”
A 2007 Ohio State graduate with a bachelor of science degree in allied health professions, Hebert graduated magna cum laude and went on to earn her master’s degree in athletic training at Kentucky in 2009. While in Lexington, she worked primarily with the women’s volleyball team in addition to assisting with football, men’s and women’s basketball, golf and track and field.
As an undergraduate at Ohio State, Hebert served as an athletic training student and also completed an athletic training internship with Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire.
A certified athletic trainer and member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Hebert holds a corrective exercise specialist certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
