WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Bradley completed its competition in the season-opening Purdue Fall Invitational by coming up empty in its two matches of the day, though it took some of the tournament’s top players to end Bradley’s run throughout the weekend.
Among Bradley’s single individual players and three doubles teams that competed in the Purdue Invite, the Braves fell to two flight champions, three consolation flight champions and two flight runners-up.
Freshman Sergio Rakitin was Bradley’s lone singles competitor still standing Sunday, but the Spaniard dropped his Sunday morning Flight E semifinal match to the eventual champion, Marquette’s Kristian Trukove, by a 6-3, 6-1 score.
In the Flight A doubles consolation bracket, the Bradley duo of Justin Abrams/Dan Rodefeld fell in their Sunday morning quarterfinal match to eventual the eventual consolation bracket champion tandem, DePaul’s Felzer/John.
The Braves will continue their fall schedule next weekend by competing in the ITA All-America Championships at Tulsa.
