PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley senior guard Walt Lemon, Jr. scored 26 points and the host Braves (5-2) shot 65.2 percent (15-23) from the field in the second half en route to a 74-54 win against Texas-Pan American (4-5) Saturday night at Carver Arena.
Bradley held UTPA to 33.9 percent (20-59) shooting from the field and earned its 10th consecutive non-conference home win. Lemon, the active career scoring leader in the Missouri Valley Conference, climbed five spots on the school's all-time scoring list Saturday night and now ranks 22nd with 1,268 career points.
Bradley started the game with a 14-0 run and the Broncs did not score their first field goal until Javorn Farrell scored on an offensive rebound with 13:11 left in the first half to pull within 14-5. The Broncs eventually closed to within 18-14, but Bradley closed the half on a 16-3 run and the Braves were never threatened the rest of the game.
Lemon added six assists, three steals and three rebounds for the Braves. Omari Grier scored 17 points and Ka'Darryl Bell chipped in with 10, while both Auston Barnes and Tyshon Pickett added eight. The Braves are 5-0 this season when at least four players score eight points. Chris Blake shared game-high honors with 11 rebounds.
Shaquille Boga led the Broncs with 17 points, five assists and three steals. Javorn Farrell was the only other UTPA player with more than six points, finishing with 15.
Bradley will return to action Wednesday by hosting IUPUI at Renaissance Coliseum in the second half of a Bradley Basketball doubleheader in the school's on-campus arena. The Bradley women will host Eastern Illinois in a 5 p.m. matchup, followed by the Bradley men against the Jaguars at 7:30.
